When Fertilizer Flows From Lawns To Lakes

One of the things we see very often on small private lakes is overgrown, and obviously over fertilized lakes. This is known as eutrification. The nutrients from the fertilizing lawns, and then irrigating heavily end up in the lake, and produce the effect. This is usually followed by an invasion of mosquitoes who use the cover in the shallows as a hatchery for their young. With this added cover comes protection for both adult mosquitoes and larvae, from the fish which would normally feed on them.
